So I haven't blogged for quite some time and I will chalk that up to being busy, even if I wasn't. I just had a few days and nights of watching Lucas while his mom was working and today I went back to work while he was at daycare. I picked him up, brought him home and he had fallen asleep in the car. So I layed him in bed with his mom and went about my day.
As I sat eating some pizza and watching t.v., it dawned on me that Lucas is just one of those guys.....just one of those guys that you always want to be around. He is only eleven months old and he already has a personality that makes you want to be with him all day.
He is always in a good mood with a smile that lights up the room and a rare laugh that makes you want to laugh with him. He goes about without a care in the world and you can't help but to join him. He gets super excited, enough to shake and grunt, and once again, you can't help but to join in his excitement. He has a hundred different expressions, some probably so similar to others that only his mom and dad notice. You always wonder what he is thinking and you can't wait for him to talk so that maybe you can join his world from time to time.
He is just one of those guys that you want to be around....even when he is poopy.

My first plane ride

Lucas took his first plane ride at ten months old. We went to Seattle, Washington for his great uncle A.G's wedding. We decided to stay a few extra days for a little family vacation.
The wedding was very nice and Seattle is a city I could live in. I like the weather. We went to the boat locks and had a fun day with Daunee's grandparents even though I was a little under the weather. Some say it was from the PBR and wine the night before, but I think it was the raw chicken I ate two days earlier.
We got to see Keith and the Wizard from the Deadliest catch. We also went to the Space Needle, but didn't go up to the top, not for fifteen dollars a piece. We went to an I max movie, and to the Science center. It was fun for both Lucas and us parents. Lucas loved the water section and the tunnels and the drum room.
We did a lot of walking and we went to an Italian restaurant that only serves dishes that serve three or more. It was a lot of food.
We took a ferry ride tour of the bay, went to Pikes fish market and the original Starbuck's. Lucas ended up having a ruptured ear drum, the poor little guy. He was a perfect baby on the plane both ways. He even hammed it up for the cute flight attendant who came by just to hold him.
I have to mention Daunee's aunt Angie and uncle Jim were wonderful. We stayed the night at there house, Angie made us supper, they woke up at 5 a.m. to drive us to the airport and they picked us up a week later, made us lunch and sent us on our way. Plus they watched shultz for us.
We had a fun trip and would love to go back.

Well, I haven't blogged for so long and I realized that my mom needed to see Lucas. So here he is. I don't know all that he has done and we are forgetting to write it down. So I will just put some pictures up and later I will add some actual blogs.

I know his aunt Kenzie gave him a pickle, he scoots and rolls from wall to wall, he had a boil on his but, he started daycare, he went to Colorado for Midevil festival and the north pole and the zoo, and he smiles, laughs and yells more.

I just can't remember when any of these things happened. And we bought him a swing and he loves it. He loves the outdoors more than anything.

Lucas has a new head thing and it looks like he is saying no to me. Sometimes when I am holding him, he leans his head back, closes his eyes and shakes it, all while having a smile on his face like 'I am so cute, you gotta love me.'

Lucas has been eating cereal since he turned FOUR months old. He has also started to eat squash and banannas.
He does best when his mom feeds him, I just don't have the touch and that is fine with me because he gets messy.

Ever changing

Lucas continues to change every day. He learns to do something each day....repeats it a hundred times and then learns something else. He has gone from high squeeling, to fake coughing and and grunting, to saying dah dah dah dah. It won't be long before he says da da.
He also seems to have rediscovered his hands. Maybe he is just as amazed at the size of them as every else who meets him.
He can be gone just a day or two and it is like a new kid when I see him again. I get to discover all of the things he learned while he was away. He makes me happy.

Lucas has been rolling over for a few weeks now, but only three have been witnessed. One by his dad, from belly to back and one from his mom from belly to back and again by his mom and mema from back to belly. We had a couple of roll overs in his crib that were a suprise to find. This is the first one on camera after many attempts. He rolled over twice on this night.

No comments about me sounding squeally. Babies like high pitch noises. Duh.

Not a tragedy. Lucas rolled over a second time and niether of us saw it. He rolled in his crib and when his mom went to get him up she found him laying there smiling and cooing.

So Mr. Lucas rolled over Saturday night while his mom was at work. I was taken by surprise as I layed on the floor with him. He wasn't doing much and I wasn't trying to get him to roll over, but he did. It took me a moment to realize what he had done and then I was excited and tried to get him to do it again, but he didn't.
He and I talked about whether we should tell his mom or if she would be sad that she missed it. We didn't tell her and we were wrong. I told her on Monday after I saw how proud of him she was after he was able to reach and grab a dangling tow in his car seat. She wasn't too happy that I waited. I feel that I stole a memory from her when I was trying to create one by having her be the first to see him roll over. Sorry Daunee'.

Today Lucas was introduced to cereal. I have some good photos of this, but not on the computer yet. He didn't hate the cereal but it took him a while to swallow any. His mom loves to feed him. She adores his messy face and his expressions with each bite. I don't like to feed him, cuz I can never get any into his mouth.

Lucas, Daunee and I just got back from visiting the wonderful town of Crawford. We went home for the kids's spring break. We had a good time. We got to watch Austin wrestle on Saturday. He does a good job and he is definitely a defensive wrestler. He won all his matches, taking home the gold.
We had a birthday dinner for grammy D and I just now realized that we didn't give her the card that Lucas picked out. I will eventually get it in the mail. We ate at Brandi's and she did a good job making enchilladas and beans and rice. It was really good. We got to spend a couple of days with Jaxon and Cash. They are two wonderful kids and Brandi does a good job. You are a good mom Brandi.
Saturday night we went bowling and Jeremy won a game and Daunee' won a game. I must have had a bad ball or something. We had a lot of fun and I think the kids did too.
Lucas enjoyed seeing his grammy D. It took him a minute to remember who she was, but he soon warmed up to her. He turned 4 months old so she took some photos of him as always. I don't have those to post, so maybe later.

Not one, but two

So my mom doesn't get to be around Lucas as much as she wants and it is always good when she can have memorable moments with him. While we were in Crawford, Lucas discovered his hands.
It was Saturday morning and he was sitting with gammy D when she pointed out that he found his hands and asked me if had done that before...which he hadn't.
It was pretty obvious that he discovered them because he would move one slowly and watch it, and then move the other slowly and watch it. He would hold them out and stare at his hand as he moved it to his mouth.
He likes to watch his dads hands as I am trying to teach hime to open and close his fists. He just smiles at me.

I found my voice today. Lucas finally started to recognize his voice and he decided to share it with his mom and dad...a lot. He coos all day, sitting in his bouncy, riding in his car seat, getting changed or taking a bath. He even coos the second he wakes up. It eventually changed to a grunt and then a uh uh uh uh and so on. He is quite funny.

Cough, sneeze, poop

Poor little Lucas had his first sickness, sometime a couple of weeks ago, wait I remember, it was around March 3rd. I was always concerned about outsiders getting my son sick and low and behold, I was the one to get him sick. I eventually wore a mask, but it was too late. He already had a cough and stuffy nose and watery eyes. He even had a temp one night, but nothing too serious. Daunee' was at work, but her mom was visitng and she helped me out a lot with him, basically taking him while I worked and Daunee slept and while I slept and Daunee worked.
I felt really bad for getting my little boy sick. He would just moan in pain and he didn't eat a ton, but enough to poop and stay hydrated.
I am pretty lucky to have a wife as a nurse. She monitored him and checked his lungs and what not. He eventually got better.....ten days later.

Fun Filled Family Weekend

This last weekend, Daunee's inlaws came to town and so did her brother-in-law. Also coming to town were Lucas's Grammy and Pappy and his Uncle Jeremy. If that wasn't enough, my mom and dad and oldest brother Jeremy stopped by for a few days.
We had fun. We relaxed in the hot tub, went pawn shopping and found nothing, went western shopping, cuz that is all the shops we have in town, and we drove up the mountain and I ate the Paul Bunyan burger at Arrowhead lodge. I almost tackled the two pound, twelve cheese Devils Tower burger, but I wasn''t sure if the beef would taste good enough to consume that much. It was good food though.
It was also Lucas's first trip up the mountain and he had a blast. He got to eat on the mountain, take a wiz and get changed and he got to ride up and down the hillside. He was exhausted.
The rest of the time was spent hanging out and talking about this and that. We also managed to fit in a pretty long photo shoot for Lucas's three month photos. He did a good job and my mom took some excellent photos. I will show those in his three month blog.

One of us has to work

Daunee' finally had to go back to work. She wanted to be a stay at home mom, but one of has to work and I am too lazy for that. So she went back for a three night stretch. That meant I was left to watch the baby.
I knew I would handle it, but I wasn't sure how easy it would be. He must have known his mom was gone because he got depressed and slept each night for at least 6-8 hours without needing a feeding. It was good sleep for me and as soon as his mom was done and had her seven days off, he was back to normal.
Daunee' is a good mom and she always stayed up when she got home for a little baby time and she would wake up to pump and play even though she was exhausted after a 12 hour shift. It must be hard for her to only see Lucas not even three hours a day when she is working. But I think she enjoys getting out of the house and getting some work done. Don't we all.

Baby Dedication

This past Sunday, Daunee' and I dedicated our son Lucas to our Lord, Jesus Christ. Our pastor spent some time with us explaining what the dedication meant. It opened our eyes to the fact that her and I are the ones who are put to the test of raising our child in the eyes of the lord. It will be solely our fault if we fail to do this. It is a big thing to take on, but we have God to look to when we don't know what to do. So here are a few photos of the dedication.

Christmas at the Wilson's

Our second stop for Christmas was at his Grandma and Grandpa Wilson's. We got there on Christmas Eve early afternoon. The weather was rolling in so we left early, but the roads were suprisingly good.
We attended church service and then as is tradition, with her family and mine, we had soup with the family. We set our stalkings over the fire, one for Lucas, Schultz, Daunee' and myself. Luckily, Santa showed up and we all had gifts. Here are some photos.

Daunee's sister and their families came over after the kids enjoyed Christmas morning at thier homes. Traditionally, Daunee's Dad made pancakes and sausage and bacon for breakfast and then we opened up more presents. Lucas slept, but the kids helped Daunee and I open his presents.
The weather did get pretty bad so Daunee, Lucas and I stayed a couple of extra days until things cleared up. Niether of us are working so we really had no rush. We had a good time with all the family, but the holiday seemed a little off.
I think it was because we had one Christmas too early in Nebraska and then Christmas at the Wilson's wasn't filled with all the extra family members that are usually present. We even played bingo with just the immediate family. I still lost.
I don't think I am going to spread any holiday out so much. It is tough to get everyone together, but Christmas should be at most, the day before Christmas Eve until the day after Christmas Day. And it means less time on the road for me.

Daunee', Lucas, my mom and I went to Brandi's to spend the day and have some supper today. I don't want to talk offensively, but I don't think Shane does enought for Brandi. I understand he is working all the time, but c'mon. A little effort goes a long way.
So, when I got to Brandi's it was a nice day and I noticed she didn't have any christmas lights on her house. I am not a fan of christmas lights, in fact I barely put any on my house, but I wasn't going to be there.
It was both Lucas and Cash's first Christmas and they should have lights on thier houses. A lack on Shanes part and a missed opportunity to spend time with his son Jaxon. I'll explain.
When Jaxon found out I was putting lights on his house he was excited and willing to help. He gave me hand laying out the lights and checking them. He would go get Brandi to get me things like a stapler, replacement bulbs and other things. His biggest job was to watch Schultz so he wouldn't run away. That didn't pan out so great, but we found the dog. He was still very helpful. He went to the hardware store with me, thankfully because he told me how to get there and he told me which street he lived on so we could get back. Smart little man.
We put red and white lights around the house and white lights, I think, on the bushes in front. We also had greenery on the windows and front door, with wreath. Jaxon wanted to put out Frankenstein, but I talked him out of that.
I was glad to be able to help Brandi out. I wish I was around more to help her get some things done.
Oh yah, we also spent time with Cash. The biggest little bundle of lots of happiness. He is shaped like a block and full of smiles and laughs. We had a lot of fun hanging out with him. It was weird to hold my baby, long and skinny, and then hold Cash, a chubby, but solid little baby. He is truly funny. I can't wait to see him at Jaxon age. What a hoot. In fact is the shape of an owl. He should be an owl for halloween. Teach him to hoot Brandi.
The food was really good too. We had really good enchilladas, spanish rice, beans and I was introduced to jalepeno tortilla chips. Umm Good. Thank you Brandi and the boys.

Time with my dad

The Christmas travel gave me a chance to spend time with my family, mostly my parents. I always spend time with my mom, doing nothing much other than hanging out and talking, which I enjoy, but I don't always spend time with my dad.
This trip was different. I wanted to be around my dad more. Maybe it is because I have a son now or just because I simply felt that way. My dad and I have a different relationship than my siblings do and I like that. My brothers can stop and see him any time they want, which usually involves helping him with something at the shop, and I get a little jealous about that. Being out of town and getting limited times to spend with my parents allows me to cherish them more.
Anyway, lucky for me dad had some junk to load from some old farm/ranch that he and troy were cleaning up. It was something that didn't involve mechanics so I was able to help. So I spent a day with Two Guys and Another Dog Salvage (since Pokey's passing, and since Poncho had already passed, the torch went to Bodega). The second guy is Troy Quay, a long time friend of my dads. We spent the day using tractors and skid steer and trucks and trailors doing men things. We loaded an old truck and combine I believe, among a lot of rolled wire and junk axels.
I actually got to run the tractor loader for the last bucket load and that was fun. I haven't ran the old tractors for a long time and I actually forgot which lever moved the bucket. I felt stupid, but I thought it was funny. So we didn't do much, but it was time with my dad.
I even enjoyed the simple errands of going to the grocery store and the fire hall and the storage unit.
You can't beat the time you spend with your parents. I wonder how many people stop and thing about that. They probably don't until it is too late.

Big moment for Lucas and his parents

While at Grandma Kennedy's (gege or jammy, or gammy) for christmas, Lucas made a tremendous break through. He slept in his co-sleeper through the night. He stilled woke up and ate, but he always slept in the co-sleeper. Actually it was Brandi's and it was smaller than ours which is why we think he liked it. When we did eventually get home, he still hated his co-sleeper, but loved to sleep in his bassonnett, which was the same size as Brandi's co-sleeper. He has slept there every night ever since Grandmas.

See mom, you can still be around for some of his firsts. A first that made his parents lives much easier.

Lucas's First Christmas

Today we begin the dreaded Christmas vacation which includes going to Gillette on Friday, leaving for santa and the mall on Saturday and ending Saturday in Crawford for an early Christmas with my family. Sunday we plan to go to Scottsbluff to see Daunee's extended family and Auntee Carmen and stay until Tuesday when we will head back to Crawford and stay until Thursday, Christmas Eve and then on our way to Gillette for Christmas Eve service and Christmas day. Sounds like a long vacation with a lot of driving. Unfortunately it didn't go that way.
We did get a fresh start from Gillette on Saturday morning and we made it to the mall at a guarter to twelve, but Santa had to go to lunch at noon and they already shut down the line, so we shopped for an hour and the wait for Santa was well worth it. We still had to make a few stops because we forgot several things in Gillette. I decided that my next trip is to the destination, not stops, because I hate forgetting things. But these fews things, plus a stop at the furniture store had us driving back and forth across Rapid. By the time we left, we were a couple of hours late for the deadline that I set.
We made it to Crawford or Marsland were Greg has a new spread, by a quarter to six, just in time for photos and food. The bad thing was that I told everyone I would be there by two thirty and then four thirty. Understandibly, they were a little mad, mostly Jeremy. It was the same thing I went through for who knows how many years when I had to wait for everyone else, who were never on time. Sorry.
We did have a good time and the food was good. We had ham that Brandi cooked and brisket that Shane smoked. There were mashed potatoes and green bean casserole, rolls and salad. Lucas had boob, his favorite.
The night was followed by opening presents, playing with presents, eating again, playing with presents and playing the wii. We had a good time, a great first Christmas for Lucas. Oh yah, we didn't go to Scottsbluff because Auntee Carmen got the shingles, so a present for my mom was to have Lucas for five days.

One Month

I finally got bored enough to blog again. I noticed it has been one month since my last blog. Maybe that will be my thing, to blog just once a month. I am sure you will hate that mom. I am going to make a list of events before I forget them. I can't put any photos on because I cannot find the cable for my camera and my sd drive on the computer doesn't work.

Lucas has Two month Check-up and Shots

We took Lucas to his 2 month check-up a week early because he was having some gas, stool, acid reflux issues. He weighed 11 lbs 2 oz. He is 25 1/2 inches long. He had to get three shots, but I don't know what for. We have posted his battle wounds to get some sympathy for him.

He continues to grow up

The nights have always been the worst time for Lucas. He doesn't sleep peacefully and he has the worst gas pains and because it is night, both of us are tired and that makes things seem worse.
Daunee' usually takes Lucas at night because she can comfort him better than I can. Last night I decided to stay up with him and let Daunee' get some extra sleep and he was pleasantly asleep so no big deal.
He has been going almost four hours between some large feeding and he did real good with me. Maybe he wants to break me in. His gas pain was still there, but not as bad. So at three his mom took over and by four she was in bed with me. I was a bit shocked, but Lucas was asleep in his co-sleeper. He was on his tummy, but we bought a wedge that helps hold him in place. He just layed there with his head to the side, his arms above his head and he was content.
He slept there for almost four hours. He never lasted more that 30 minutes before last night. We are so proud of him. I wonder if he can do it again tonight?

Ausitn Kennedy

So this may sound weird to most people, but today I called my nephew Austin to see what he wanted for Christmas. I had talked to his dad a couple of weeks ago, but I still couldn't find Austin anything. I had thought about getting him money, which I would like and I am sure he would too, but it sounds like that is a common gift. So I called to talk just to him, something I have never done before.

I was surprised. He didn't even sound like I remembered. Sometimes he can be a bit of a hassle, especially when he gets around his cousins and all rowled up. That is how I remember him. Tonight was different. His mom took him the phone and he sounded like a sweet young boy. He talked really well and he wasn't shy. He had no idea what he wanted at first, but as we talked I learned a couple of things about him. He likes the Broncos, which is good because Daunee and I wanted to take Taylor to a game, knowing that he liked them, and now we may take both of them. Not right away, maybe next year. Don't tell them.

But I was still impressed by how calm he was and how attentive he was considering he was watching a very good football game. We talked about seeing him Saturday, and getting to meet my son. I told him to watch out cuz Lucas and I were lifting weights to come beat him up. He laughed and said 'yah right.'

I guess I was suprised because I am never alone with Austin. We only see him when all the cousins are around. I may have had a false impression of who he really is. It is hard to come up with something to do, just my nephews and I, that isn't 'dumb' to them. I must be getting old and uncool. It happens to the best of us. I guess I will just have to find a way.

Anyway, the phone call was helpful. I have some good ideas and money is always a back-up.

Thrid week of Church

Lucas has made it to church three weeks in a row and has done good every time. Today he was almost fussy because I forgot to change his diaper until just before we left. It took his mom some time to settle him down.

Three weeks old

Lucas is now three weeks old. He has changed so much. He is starting to sleep by himself, just during the day and not at night. He is smiling more, usually for mom and not for me, but I did get one smile. He seems to be gaining weight according to my scale. And he hasn't shot pee at me for quite some time now.

He is usually awake the most between midnight and four in the morning, Daunee's shift. He is however, staying awake more at different times throughout the day. Maybe it is a sign that he is trying to change his days and nights.

He is starting to outgrow most of his newborn outfits, mostly because he has long arms and legs. He likes to stretch out and sleep with this arms above his head. These are photos of his 3 week b-day.

Pokeydots Kennedy

Part of the FAMILY

Recently, our family dog passed away. He was 16 years old and he was a good dog till the day he died. I know my father had a hard time deciding if he should put Pokey to sleep or let him go naturally. He told me one night that his dog had been so loyal to him, that he felt he owed it to Pokey to let him live for his last breath. He did just that.

Pokey is now out of misery and back to being a young, energetic dog, running with our other past family dogs. Maybe playing some catch with a tennis ball or riding a fire truck every once in a while.

I think we should start a Pokeydots foundation with the funds going to the Crawford Volunteer Fire Department. He was well known in Crawford. He was able to stop, drop and roll as well as crawl on the ground when you called smoke. He has taught many kids at the Crawford Elementary School how to be safe when they encounter a fire. He has been a symbol and mascot of the CVFD for most of his life. He was also a good friend to grow up with. I will miss Pokey.

All the Help is Wonderful

We have been blessed with a lot of people wanting to help us through our first days, nights, and weeks of parenthood.
Both of our moms were here for the first couple of days to lend a hand and to hold the baby as if the ground was made of thorns.
Ellie stayed for a little over a week and helped make a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner among several other meals and she also managed to do some cleaning. You can definitely tell where Daunee gets her motherly abilities. It was a sad moment for the two of them when Ellie had to leave.
We weren't alone long when Daunee's aunt Betty Jo came up for a few days to solely stay up at night and watch Lucas so that we could catch up on our sleep. She also helped during the day after she got some much needed rest for herself.
We have enjoyed several meals from members of our church and between those and leftovers, we haven't had to cook for two weeks.
We want to thank everyone for all the help and we know that not everyone who wants to come help and see the baby have been able to. But that is alright. We will be making the family rounds this christmas. Lucas is excited to meet the rest of the family.

Quick guide to achievements

He can already lift his head, basically from day one
He lost his belly button on November 29th.
He attended his first day of church quietly too,

He lost his plastic bell on November 3oth.
He moved up to a size 1 diaper on November 30th.
He first smiled at mom on December 5th, for her birthday.

Happy Birthday to Momma

Now Debra, I know you are sad to live so far away, but I have to blog about the babies first trip out of town.
It was today, Daunee's birthday. We went to Gillette to get pictures taken of all the grandkids. Daunee's mom made her favorite meal, chicken cordon bleu with cheesy potatoes. We also ate KFC for lunch, one of Daunee's favorite fast food restaurants. The one in Sheridan closed so trips to Gillette are the only time she can indulge.
So the prepartion for the short trip took a long time and a lot of crap. We had to make a list and begin checking it off. Sleepers, outfits, diapers, medicine, breast pump, bottles, blankets, boppy, and so on. Between the two of us we got things packed, loaded, fed and headed out of town. He does so good on road trips. Not a sound from him until a few miles from town. He had gone nearly three hours between feedings so that was really good.
A trip out of town, quite the two week graduation achievement. He actually rode on my lap steered the entire trip. Gifted I tell ya.

Two week Update

Wow, wow, wow, what a stallion. Here is Lucas at two weeks old. December 5th, 2009. He shared his two week birthday with his mom. He is stronger and stronger each day. He likes to lift his head up and he pulls out his pacifier and he waves and smiles and talks and walks. We are thinking of testing his i.q. but I am worried it will be higher than mine.

Today was my birthday. December 4th. I am now 29 years old. I have a nice home, a wonderful wife and a baby boy. I still have my dog and the four of us make a happy family. I got my first Daddy card. It was all I wanted. Truthfully, I didn't want anything, but my wife and son bought me a cake and had candles and a card. They sang happy birthday to me and then we enjoyed the treats.
That was when I realized all I wanted was the first Daddy card and a quiet night with my family. It was perfect.

One Week Update and check-up

Lucas had his one week check-up on Monday 11/30. He is doing good. Right on schedule, if not ahead. He poops and pees and is gaining weight. He no longer has any jaundice and his belly button had fallen off the night before, Sunday night.
That night his plastic bell fell off and his circumcision looks good. He is growing so fast. He had to start taking eye drops to clear up a possible eye infection or it may be clogged tear ducts.
All in all he is doing wonderful and so is his momma. His next check-up is December 18th.

First Day of Church

Today is the first day of church for Lucas. He will be raised in a house that believes Jesus Christ is our lord and savior and that through him he will be saved. We attend Mountain Alliance Church in Sheridan, Wyoming. It is our old church with a new face, pastor, and meaning. We are still part of the Christian Missionary and Alliance church. We hope to dedicate Lucas Jeffrey Kennedy to the lord sometime in January. We hope to do it the same weekend we have the baby shower for freinds and family. You will be informed of when that is.

As for the service, Lucas was perfect, duh. He was asleep the entire time which made him quiet. What more could you ask for. Our congregation was in love with him and it almost felt like they were part of the whole process. They're prayers and support were a crutch we could lean throught the pregnancy. They have also brought us meals and gifts and have been very helpful. Thank you.

Baby's First Outing

I will post pictures later, but Lucas's first outing was to our local Christmas Stroll the day after Thanksgiving. It is a time when the historic main street is decorated for christmas and the streets are closed off to traffic. The local businesses stay open and the strets are busy with families taking in the holidays. The Fire department hands out free chili, the railroad gives out free hotdogs and numerous businesses offer hot apple cider and hot chocolate. Santa Clause is there to greet the children and begin his list of toys for the nice ones and the coal for the naughty ones. There are trolly rides and sleigh rides free for all to enjoy as well as several groups of carolers singing your favorite christmas songs.
Lucas did good. He saw a lot of people and basically slept the whole time. We were out and about for an hour or so and then it was time to get home for feeding. It was a really good time.

My dog....Schultz

I have promised my dog that because he has behaved so well, I would post a blog about him. He keeps hounding me to get it done and now I have the time.

What a special little wiener. He knew something was going on when we were getting ready to go to the hospital. He was quiet and mopey and not himself. Luckily his grandma Deb took care of him and actually walked him till his paws wore off. He loved it though.

He was happy to see us return and he was very curious about his new brother. Wanting to show him the ropes he instantly licked his face and began his story, but I stopped him short because Lucas was too young and overwhelmed by a talking dog.

Shultz wouldn't let that hurt his feelings and for the past couple of days he has been by my side and Lucas's. Already a loyal dog. We are happy to have him and can't wait for Lucas to take a nap with his dog. One of the 1001 things a child should do before they leave home.

Turkey Day

Well, it is Thanksgiving and that means another day to blog. We have a lot to be thankful for, good jobs, a business that hasn't failed yet, a nice home, good family and friends, a new pastor that has really brought our church around and of course the golden wonder, Lucas. So I hope all of you who read this are having a good day with your families and remembering those who couldn't be with you and think of all that you are thankful for and don't forget to thank God.

That said, here is my boys first Thanksgiving 2009.

Time Alone

Daunee and I took in a movie the other night while our young and talented son stayed with his mema. We thought it would be the last chance for a while. Everything was going good. We got to the movie on time, we loaded up on pop and popcorn and we got seated. Before the movie started, Daunee' got a little sad because she could smell her baby on her sweater. I told her we could go home any time, but she got through it and we enjoyed watching Blind Side. I recommend it to anyone.
It is a strong bond that Daunee' shares with our son. She is going to be a great mom. Loving, passionate, understanding, kind.....etc....etc. I could list a thousand things that she is and will be for Lucas and our other children as our family will hopefully grow in the next couple of years.

The Power of God and Prayer

It just dawned on me that I got caught up in my new life as a dad and this blogging business that I didn't thank the one that matters...God.

Without the prayers of those who love us, the people we go to church with and the friends that we have made, we wouldn't have been able to get through such times. With a high possibility of a c-section, God answered the prayers of many people who came together for Daunee', Lucas and I. We are very blessed and grateful. Thank you God and everyone for your prayers.

Lift up your life in every aspect to God and he will be there, always. He never gives us more than we can handle.

I always knew...

I always knew...
That Daunee' was the exact person for me
That she would be the perfect person to live the rest of my life with
And that she would be the best mom I would ever know, next to my mom (wink)

There are many things in our life together that has proved these things to me and recently she made me the proudest husband and father you will ever know.

We were in the hosptial for over 37 hours and she was in labor for 12 of those hours, over three of them in intense labor and she never gave up. She may have been frustrated and tired and wanting to give up, but she never did. When everyone thought she would have a c-section, she never gave up.

You see on t.v. how husbands faint watching the birth and even during lamaze classes it was joked about. To be honest, it is easy to handle. What you don't see on t.v. and what you don't expect is how you feel when you see the one person you love on this earth more than anything, go through a pain that as a man I will never know, and as a husband I had no control over or any ability to help her with. During her final pushing moments, my only job was to count to ten and I almost asked our midwife to take over because I was so choked up from how proud of her I was and how much I hurt not being able to help her and to see her push through the pain and keep going, not wanting to rest. She was determined, and she deliverd, litteraly, a beautiful healthy boy.

Thank you Daunee'. I love you beyond recognition.

First Check-up

Today we went to see our pediatrician for Lucas's first check-up. We are lucky to have a baby that likes his car rides so he was peaceful until we got there. He was remeasured and weighed and is normal for genius children. He had a good poop that my mother-in-law changed for me because Daunee' was doing paperwork. He got pretty fussy when we stripped him and weighed him, but soon his mom showed up and breast fed him. Such a big boy needs a lot of food. Maybe I will get lucky and he will stop eating so much as he gets older, like in high school. I don't want to pay to feed him if he is anything like my mom claimed I was like. But you can't raise the perfect human specimen without a few sacrifices. In all seriousness, God has blessed us with many things and a healthy and happy baby boy is the top by far.
